Michael Phelps: Smile happily at camera

In 2008 Beijing Games, Michael Phelps was definitely a legend, for he held the record for the most gold medals won in a single Olympics. Immediately, he became a well-known figure from an ordinary one. Millions of cameras shoot those excellent moments and recorded his heroic bearing. That summer, he won 8 gold medals for America and full attention from the world.

This year, 2012, London Olympics offers a great number of opportunities for every athlete. And we are looking forward to a breakthrough performance from Phelps.

As world record holder, Phelps possesses the maximum advantage to create a new world record. However, he doesn’t adjust to a good shape and fails to win a medal in the men’s 400m individual medley swimming final. Although he kicks 47’’15 at his turn, the Americans rank second in men’s 4*100m freestyle relay afterwards. On July 31, he fails to achieve another gold medal for 200m butterfly which used to be regarded as the apple in his hand. Maybe it is Beijing Olympics which overdraft too much fortune that Phelps loses the protection of Lady Luck.

Although struck by those failures, Phelps doesn’t lose confidence. At 4*200m freestyle relay, the American team finally receives this gold medal. Depend on 19 Olympic medals, Phelps surpasses predecessors and creates a new legend in past 116 years of Olympic Games.

Facing camera, Phelps beams happily. His success is not only noted by photos but also carved in people’s mind. We sincerely hope that he can achieve good results in next competitions.
